A hidden gem in the East Village. Small store with AMAZING cheeseburgers! Far cheaper than fast food and WAY better tasting. 🍔😋

Sam, the owner, is salt of the earth! Super kind and accommodating. Get a burger today! I promise you won’t regret it.

I have been going to Sam for over 15years I must say that he is the last great store owner on the block he has help me and so many others in time of need I know that the items that he sells can be a little pricey but he has to pay for rent etc he has been in business for over 40 years when other businesses were closing due to covid he is still standing thank God Sam is a blessing to all who knows him and to those who don't I will continue to shop there and I pray that God will bless me or someone who plays the lottery there that they will win Sam deserve that for all he has and still doing for the people who doesn't have much. God bless Sam and his family

Outstanding neighborhood family owned mini Mart deli. The owner Sam is a warm hearted person who is a friend to all his customers. He makes one of the best hamburgers in the area at a very reasonable price. Five stars are not enough to show your appreciation for this gentleman.

I'd come here when I lived downtown on 9th and Beech. Nice small store. Reasonable prices.

Sami is awesome.
This is a small Ma & Pa type store that is trying to stay alive while competing against larger stores and delis.
He recently bought a pizza baker and warmer.
Nice spot for a burger, sandwich, breakfast, etc, he will also heat up frozen and canned foods if desired.
He doesn't sell cigarettes or booze

I didn't eat here! I walked into this placing thinking it's a hidden gem based on the rating. This place is old and dirty looking. This isn't a deli it's a convenient store that is limited on items. The food maybe good but don't expect a"deli". It's just a limited menu and I just didn't feel comfortable ordering there. I'm all about supporting the little mom and pop but it also has to look like it's worth supporting. This place looks like it's days away from closing.

The Broadway Deli & Market - from my observations - has been around for quite a long time : Meanwhile encroachment from San Diego's East Side and Gas Lamp quarter developments are slowly creeping eastward - like ice plant (a weed like creeping plant that has been devastating parts of Tecolote Canyon Park) wending their way up Broadway : Part of the south block of Broadway - that starts around east 8th Street - has been boarded down and locked up, in preparation for eventual demolition.
Their are a small remaining group of "homeless street people," who are hunkered in along the west side of 9th street.
The Broadway Deli & Market is one of the few last remaining small businesses within this area, besides a couple of local bars, pizza shops and a"gentleman's clothing shop" along Broadway, thru 10th street
The owner -"an older man, named Sam" is a quiet, easy going fellow : He knows many of the local residents and homeless people personally and gives a few of them "a small store credit account," which is something that one rarely ever sees anymore, except in small town rural America. A few of the people whom he helps have low paying jobs, are on various types of government assistance, or are homeless however, sometimes able to find some kind of work. It's quite sad to know that there are so many people within our country - especially children - who go to bed hungry every night. You don't find to many people like Sam in our world today.
His store sells sandwiches, coffee and cappuccinos, cigarettes, soft drinks and lots of different kinds of ice creme products.
He also sells lotto tickets and I occasionally buy a few tickets from him, whenever I decide to buy any tickets. I don't buy very many however, I figure that if I do ever win, that some of my winnings would go to him and most of the rest to various charities ; at my age, there isn't that much time left and throwing it all away on a too many material objects seem so senseless. A person may think that they want a lot of things, yet when it comes right down to what you really need, if you see the "light," He will guide you.
The building looks like it was built during the 1930's, so it's been there a very long time. It's kind of funny, to see all of these "glass townhomes/apartments" being built everywhere yet, most of them all look alike...remind's me of a book that I read a few times, during my generation. I think think that the book's title is either "1984," "Brave New World," or The Illuminati?"
It kinda` makes a person wonder, doesn't it?🌇🚘🌈 like "Brave New World," or "THX1138" (I don't know if I got the title of the latter right...
